HISPA President and CEO Dr. Ivonne Diaz-Claisse and John Moreno-Escobar, director of the HISPA Florida Role Model Program, will present "The HISPA Role Model Program: A Blueprint to Inspire Latino Academic Achievement" at Breaking Barriers: 2017 Florida College Access & Success Summit in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Presentation Description:
The U.S. Latino youth population is growing rapidly: from 1993-2013, Latinos under age 18 increased 107% versus 11% among the general youth population, resulting in a booming K-12 presence and record-high graduation rates. However, Latino dropout remains alarmingly high. In response, HISPA developed the innovative and replicable Role Model Program based on the collective impact model, uniting Latino professionals from public and private sectors with the most vulnerable Latino students. These visits introduce the opportunities available to those who pursue higher education, thus inspiring students’ academic performance and achievement by demonstrating that they, too, can achieve their dreams.
