HISPA Role Model Program at Red Bank Middle School to Feature NJ Homeland Security Director Richard Cañas

PRESS ADVISORY: RED BANK, NJ – Richard Cañas, Director of the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, will speak to 7th- and 8th- graders at Red Bank Middle School during a HISPA Role Model program on Friday, Jan. 30, Noon. The school is at 101 Harding Road, Red Bank.
He will be accompanied by Dr. Ivonne Diaz-Claisse, president of HISPA, a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing professional Hispanic role models for young students. HISPA, which stands for Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement, held its national launch this past September in New Jersey. Director Cañas is a recent recruit to the HISPA program.

HISPA Role Model Program held at Academy of Engineering in San Diego, California

San Diego, California – January 16, 2009 –HISPA hosts its first HISPA Role Model Program in Madison High School in San Diego California. Joanna Clark, HISPA San Diego Champion, reaches out to her AT&T colleagues and her professional network to recruit local volunteers in support of our first event in San Diego. HISPA plans to continue identifying and coordinating role model visits for this Academy of Engineering as a pilot effort in San Diego.

“2009 Three Kings Banquet” Celebration Shines with the Spirit of Collaboration

HISPA hosted the 2009 Three Kings Banquet in the Seabra’s Armory this past Saturday. Guests included AT&T’s HACEMOS, MERCK’s MHO, CHUBB’s CHLEN, NSHMBA NJ, Microsoft HOLA, USHAA and the Latino Leadership Alliance of NJ. Their presence reinforced the theme of the night: “Celebrating the Impact of our Collaboration”.
