The Summit Area YMCA Celebrates Community Partners

On Tuesday, June 9 the Summit Area Y hosted its 2nd annual Community Achievement Dinner-celebrating the magic of community. Honored were Leslie Zimring, Supervisor of World Languages/ESL/Bilingual Programs, Summit Public Schools, and Dr. Ivonne Diaz-Claisse, a volunteer mentor with HISPA, a national organization providing support and guidance for Latino students.

Over 100 students challenged to “TAKE ACTION” to “ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS” at HISPA Youth Conference

June 12, Princeton University Campus – One hundred and ten 8th graders from Red Bank Middle School, Paterson School #5, New Brunswick Middle School and the William C. McGinnis School (Perth Amboy) were hosted by professionals from Princeton University, AT&T, Merck, NSHMBA, PACTO, Elizabethtown Gas, Schering-Plough, CHUBB, Argent Associates, Wakefern/Shoprite, for a day of learning about the importance of high school and the many careers they can choose to pursue.

The HISPA Role Model Bureau held its 2009 Youth Conference for 8th graders on Friday, June 12, 9:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., at the Frist Campus Center on the Princeton University campus. The “Take Action! Achieve Your Dreams” conference was co-sponsored by the Office of Human Resources at Princeton, and AT&T and its Hispanic Employee Resource Group, HACEMOS. The one-day event was attended by schools that participated in the HISPA Role Model Program during the 2008/2009 school year: McGinnis School (Perth Amboy), Paterson School #5 (Paterson), Red Bank Middle School (Red Bank), New Brunswick Middle School (New Brunswick).
