Hispanic mentors will be in Red Bank, Passaic and Summit this week
NEW JERSEY – Since mid-October, HISPA’s Role Model Bureau has been quite busy providing support to educational programs across New Jersey. Mentors have shared their life stories – with an emphasis on educational achievements and professional accomplishments – during visits with more than 1,000 students in New Brunswick, Paterson, West New York and Summit.

NEW JERSEY – HISPA (Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement), a national non-profit organization dedicated to providing positive Hispanic role models for young students, is holding a launch event to spotlight the group’s national mission and its New Jersey program. The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 6 p.m. at AT&T, One AT&T Way, Bedminster, New Jersey.

San Antonio, TX – June 20, 2008
HISPA proudly sponsored the 2nd Annual HACEMOS Youth Conference in San Antonio, Texas on June 20. With the theme, “Life after High School,” students were offered an invaluable opportunity to spend a day with many role models representing diverse cultures and professional backgrounds, while learning about the importance of education. Perth Amboy, New Jersey – HISPA President, Dr. Ivonne Diaz-Claisse, participated as a role model at the Shull School in Perth Amboy on November 14, 2007. Dr. Diaz-Claisse shared her educational experience with over 350 eighth grade students. She explained how her passion for mathematics led her to learn about the Chaos Theory and to pursue a PhD degree.
Sponsored by Teleperformance (www.teleperformancemex.com) and Camera Mundi, Inc. (www.spanisheducationalresources.com), HISPA’s President, Dr. Ivonne Diaz-Claisse, Alejandro Figueiras, (HISPA EVP Business Development) and Tere Cintron (HISPA EVP Strategic Planning) attended the USHCC 28th Convention. This event served as a venue for HISPA to identify key leaders within the Latino community that will enable HISPA’s vision to become a reality.
In June 2007, HISPA teamed with AT&T’s HACEMOS organization and hosted 40 students during their first 2007 HACEMOS Youth Conference, the theme of which was “Life After High School.” HISPA sponsored and led the coordination of this event which included exhibits from ten local Universities/Colleges and three organizations, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), Hispanic College Fund (HCF) and NACME. HISPA is currently coordinating AT&T’s HACEMOS Youth Conference in San Antonio to be held this summer. Read more
