You’re invited to our virtual HISPA 2020 Role Model Program Kick-Off and Recruiting Event on October 1st from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. with an after-party from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Themed “Sharing Our Past to Impact the Future,” this Zoom event will be both a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and an opportunity to bring HISPA supporters together for one common goal: to commit to SHARE, INSPIRE, and TRANSFORM the lives of students.

In 2020-21, HISPA will be charging into the future with all virtual programming! This event will offer an exclusive sneak peek into these monumental changes and how you can get involved. This will also be our first ever HISPATHON, where we will commit to registering 100 volunteers to be part of our 2020-21 Virtual ‘Live!’ HISPA Role Model Program this fall.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Dr. Betty Uribe

For over two decades, Dr. Betty™ has been transforming organizations and empowering people through values-based leadership. A recognized authority on the psychology of leadership, turnarounds, organizational structure, and peak performance, she has worked with leaders around the globe. Her book #Values has been Endorsed by The Vatican as a book every reader in the world must-read, with the Foreword by the Pentagon. Oscar Hernández

Four-time Grammy Award Winner Oscar Hernández has long been considered one of the most gifted and prominent pianists, arrangers, and producers on the contemporary Latin, Latin-jazz, and salsa music scene. Hernández has achieved legendary status for his career spanning now over 40 years. He is the leader of the world-renowned Spanish Harlem Orchestra and has performed and recorded with artists including Latin music king Tito Puente, Queen of Salsa Celia Cruz, and Latin pop star Julio Iglesias.

Dr. Ivonne Díaz-Claisse

Dr. Ivonne Díaz-Claisse is the CEO of Hispanics Inspiring Students’ Performance and Achievement (HISPA). Founded in New Jersey in 2008, HISPA has expanded to Texas, New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania and has reached over 15,000 students. In 2020, HISPA earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, the highest national mentoring award bestowed by the U.S. government upon mentors who work to expand STEM talent among the underserved. Díaz-Claisse holds a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Puerto Rico; a masters in engineering from Cornell, a masters in mathematics from the University of Maryland, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Arizona State.

Rod Colón

Rod Colón brings over 25 years of experience coaching today’s professionals and executives to his role, focusing on the recruitment, retention, and professional development of HISPA volunteers; consulting with partner organizations; and advising on ERG best practices. An in-demand executive coach and professional speaker, Colón challenges professionals to be relentless in building their networking skills and view managing their careers as a business. He is also an accomplished author, blogger, and radio talk show host, and has been featured on ABC-TV “Tiempo” with Joe Torres, FOX 29, NEWS12 New Jersey “It’s Your Money” with Eric Landskroner, BRONXNET “Open” with Dr. Bob Lee, LatinTRENDS, and Princeton Review.
